St. John's facilities are a wonderful mix of new and old. In addition to the original sanctuary and the new Nordmeyer chapel, the up-to-date kitchen is equipped with stove, dish washer and dishes to cook for and clean up after large crowds. The kitchen opens into the parish hall. The remodel and expansion at St. John's, which includes the kitchen area, the atrium and chapel and additional ground floor and basement meeting rooms was done during 1996-97. The Gathering area around the fireplace and under the sky-light is was dedicated to St. David, as follows:
Gathering area dedicated to St. David, Patron Saint of Wales, revered by this parish and the who with faith established and worshiped together as the congregation of St. David's 1964-1994.
The Nordmeyer chapel where Wednesday Eucharists are held every week at 12:05PM opens into the Meditation Garden on the southwest corner of the building on the ground entrance floor. The atrium, beautifully maintained by the Abbotts , the main office, restrooms, the Nursery and some Christian Formation classrooms are also located at this south entrance level which is accessible to the sanctuary and parish hall by a lift-elevator for those who cannot manage stairs. On the lower level are more classrooms and a commons.
On Sundays, St. John's is bustling with members of the congregation using all these rooms. Throughout the week, in addition to ongoing St. John's activities, Ames and local community groups often occupy one or more of our meeting spaces.
